Purchased initially off the track by Steve and Betty Baker, he was brought to 100 mile prominence by them and rider Becky Russo, making the 2001 PANAM Team.  Now owned and campaigned by Valerie Kanavy, he has a total of 25 completions, 1160 AERC miles and 6 BC's.  He won 5 races in a row winter of 2002-03 with 2 BC's.  Then he was 8th (of only 16 finishers/ 104 starters) at the World Cup 3/26/03 in Dubai, top Non-Arab completer, in difficult heat and sandstorm conditions.   Wow!  Congratulations Valerie and Emphatic.

Owned and ridden by Bob Walsh, with nearly 500 miles of completions in middleweight division.  At 15.3, massive and powerful, this horse always has plenty at the end, Bob says.  He'll take on 100 mile races in '03.

Owned and ridden by Jeff Crandell (and family).  This horse has been spectacular on the 50 mile circuit with 3 BC's, capped off with a win and BC at the O.D. 50 in 2002.  Jeff says he's got natural ability on rock, and efficient gaits.  This talented horse and rider tem has created big expectations for the next level.

Owned and campaigned by Betty Baker.   She has proved a strong 50 mile competitor with 400 AERC miles, 8 top tens, and a BC.   With rider Kelsey Hamill she won the 2002 AERC junior 50 mile championship (a great reflection on Betty's commitment and generosity toward young riders).   She's bold, beautiful, and metabolically gifted.  A younger full sister to Emphatic, but you get the impression this mare and  owner are not looking to play second fiddle

Owned and ridden by Tom Hutchinson.  Tom seems to like everything about this horse, and has a full slate of 50 mile rides planned for 2003.
